Anhydrous Dyeing Technology Is Accepted Through Small Test.

The anhydrous dyeing technology developed by Donghua University and Shanghai Textile Holding Group Company has passed the small test acceptance of Shanghai science and Technology Commission recently. It is expected that the sample machine will be available in the first half of this year.

If the waterless dyeing technology is popularized throughout the country, it can save 2 billion cubic meters per year, which is close to the total volume of 2 billion 498 million cubic meters of all local water resources in Shanghai.

It is understood that anhydrous dyeing is regarded as a revolution in the traditional dyeing and finishing industry worldwide.

Since the end of the last century, scientists from various countries have invested a lot of manpower and material resources in the research of new technology of anhydrous dyeing. At present, Germany has developed a 30 litre medium sample machine in the forefront.

According to Professor Dai Jinjin of the national dyeing and finishing technology research center of Donghua University, 1.6 litres of small sample machine is the center after more than 4 years of exploratory test. It has been manufactured by independent research and development and accepted by the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission. The prototype has reached the international advanced level.

The prototype looks like a medium-sized lathe, with 3 holes in the lathe, and a dense pipeline connects 3 holes, power pumps and carbon dioxide cylinders.

According to Professor Dai, the carbon dioxide in the cylinder was heated and pressurized and then entered first holes with dye. After dissolved dye, the carbon dioxide entered second holes in the fabric, colored the fabric, and then the carbon dioxide entered third holes. After cooling and pressure reduction, the carbon dioxide recovered gas state and recycled. The remaining dye was automatically precipitated and recycled.

The whole process has no water, no auxiliaries, no pollution, energy saving and high efficiency, especially for polyester fiber and some high performance special fibers.

It is reported that the output of polyester fiber in the whole country is 11 million 380 thousand and 500 tons in 2004. If all of them adopt the technology of dyeing without water, the whole country can save 2 billion cubic meters of water resources every year, reduce the discharge of sewage by 18 million tons, and reduce the total cost of electricity, gas, auxiliaries, pollution control and so on, totaling 57 billion 400 million yuan.

It is reported that Shanghai Textile Holding Group textile energy conservation and environmental protection center is very optimistic about this technology. Recently, it has joined hands with Donghua University to promote the development and industrialization of this technology.

At present, a 30 litre medium sample machine is under way and is expected to be put into operation in May.
